"Most people are not the biggest fans of chemistry... Their experiences are something to the tune of "Why do I need to know this?" or "I just need to pass!" Well, I'm here with encouraging news: learning chemistry can not only be painless but it can also be straightforward and engaging. You will find that the more proficient you become at solving problems, the more you will enjoy learning. The problem I see with most students is that they are missing the big picture. Instead of simply regurgitating information and memorizing seemingly useless solubility rules, we will develop a comprehensive understanding of the chemical world that will give you the edge you need to become an A+ student.

I am currently a graduate student in the chemistry department at Cornell. I graduated with both a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from UCLA. I have TA-ed at both UCLA and Cornell -- given lectures, written and graded exams, and directed laboratories -- while simultaneously helping students achieve their academic and career goals as a tutor. My tutoring philosophy is problem-solving oriented: practice is the key. We will not only solve the specific questions that you have but also work on problems that I have gathered over the years that will give you the prep you need to ace your exams.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have four years of research experience. At UCLA, I synthesized organometallic complexes that catalyzed the polymerization of biomolecules, rendering biodegradable bioplastics. At Cornell, I jumped ship from synthetic/polymer chemistry to a field called bioinorganic chemistry, investigating the role of metal ions inside of enzymes germane to archaeal nitrification." less...
