"Hello! My name is Robert. I am restarting my tutoring journey as a way to help others understand the basic math and science concepts that made me fall in love with mechanical engineering, the field in which I'm currently pursuing my PhD at the University of Rochester. About 3 years ago, I accrued about 30 hours of tutoring experience in my home state of Florida, and had great reviews. I believe I can do even better this time around. As I dive back in, I plan to focus as much on what my clients know as on what they don't know. This way, we build the student’s confidence in the subject while also helping me gauge where misunderstandings might be occurring or where we need to spend more time.

As for my credentials, I earned my Bachelor’s in Math and Physics from the University of Florida (now the #4 public university in the nation!) with a 3.92 GPA. In high school, I scored 1580 on the SAT and 35 on the ACT. Besides the 30 hours of tutoring experience I mentioned earlier, I was a graduate teaching assistant for three semesters for Senior Mechanical Design, University of Rochester’s capstone mechanical engineering design course. My day job is at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, where I frequently collaborate with scientists from different academic backgrounds to realize experiments that advance our understanding of stellar cores and nuclear fusion.

In my free time, I love playing soccer with friends and reading philosophy." less...
