"Hello! I’m a PhD student in philosophy with a Phil. Master’s degree and a focus on Thomistic ethics, metaphysics, and the history of philosophy. I tutor philosophy, Latin (both classical and ecclesiastical), and academic writing. I’ve given conference presentations on ethics and metaphysics, earned an A on a PhD-level Latin translation exam, and will soon begin teaching three undergraduate philosophy courses.
My background in close reading and writing began at Thomas More College, a Great Books school rooted in the classic texts of Western thought. At the Center for Thomistic Studies, from where I’ve already earned a master’s degree, my doctoral work has deepened my ability to work through complex philosophical arguments and to explain them clearly and engagingly. I earned top marks in my graduate coursework and comprehensive exams, including a near-perfect score on a one-hour oral exam before a panel of faculty. This background has prepared me to tutor high-school and college students in academic writing or philosophy.
I read regularly in Latin for my research—especially the works of St. Thomas Aquinas—and recently helped a student prepare for and pass his PhD Latin exam. We worked through Familia Romana, an engaging introduction to Latin grammar and reading. I’m happy to work with Latin students of any level or age-group." less...
