"I am currently a PhD student at the University of Maine where I study plant biology with an emphasis on genetics and pathology. I received my B.S. from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA where I studied general biology. During this time, I tutored students from 9th grade through college. Additionally, I have multiple years of experience working as a Teaching Assistant, instructing biology laboratories and teaching scientific writing.

My main goal is to help my students succeed in both STEM and other subjects. I have extensive experience helping students improve their writing abilities and test taking skills. I enjoy sharing my passion for science with new students, and helping students find new ways of understanding complex topics. For the past two years, I have been teaching an introductory biology laboratory at the University of Maine. Teaching this course has provided me with significant experience teaching college level biology focused on cell, plant, and molecular biology.

My current GPA is 3.89, accomplished through taking a mix of STEM and humanities courses. I have received multiple National Science Foundation grants totaling over $15,000. I hope to pass this experience on to my students to help them receive grants and funding for their studies and research.

I am the 1st author on two peer reviewed scientific publications, and have helped review multiple others. Publishing research is vital for any student in STEM, and I aim to help my students improve both their scientific thinking and writing skills through hands on writing exercises and thorough review of their work." less...
