"I have a master's degree in engineering physics and a bachelor's degree in astronomy and astrophysics with a minor in mathematics. The most rewarding moments of my undergraduate years have been applying myself to challenging problems and helping other students. I have been a lab teaching assistant, a grader, and a supplemental instructor. I really appreciate teaching moments as an opportunity to help and also to think about the subject in a new way I haven't before. I have a reputation among classmates as being able to frame some concept in multiple ways, and that has been great for reaching that click when something makes sense.
As an astrophysics student, I've taken three courses of calculus and three of analytic differential equations as well as courses on numerical techniques for the material of these courses. I like to find challenging problems to solve in my free time in the hopes of sharpening my skills for attacking problems of calculus and differential equations.
My love of astronomy drew me to my undergraduate school. I have taken labs and courses on astrophysics, culminating in a capstone project using a 1m telescope to examine galactic redshifts and the Hubble Flow. I have also recently published with a professor in an astrophysics field in the Astrophysical Journal. Physics theory is, like hard maths, a way that I enjoy to spend my time. I am quite proud of my growing textbook collection, many of which are now unrelated to any class I have taken. I practice derivations and emphasise understanding and process over a simple result in both my learning and teaching. I will soon be undertaking a PhD in Physics.
I have realised that while I hope to research, I do not want to lose the teaching aspect of being a physicist once in that career. I genuinely enjoy helping people by sharing my knowledge and understanding and I hope to make that clear when I am granted such an opportunity. Please feel free to reach out with a problem or a request and I would be very happy to help as best as I can!" less...
