"I am a college physics professor with over a decade of experience tutoring physics and astronomy. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Physics & Astrophysics from Florida State University in 2015, and my Ph.D in Physics from University of Notre Dame in 2020. I was employed as a research astrophysicist with University of Michigan (2020 to 2022) and then University of Washington (2022 to 2023) before becoming a professor at Tacoma Community College.
In addition to teaching physics and astronomy, I am a professional science communicator and author. I am represented by Ayesha Pande Literary, and am currently working with Princeton University Press on a non-fiction book. I am an experienced creative writer as well as a crafter of personal essays, especially for STEM students.
In my science classrooms, I work with freshman and sophomore college students (of all ages) who are either studying for the MCAT or taking physics as a pre-req for a medical certification, but I have also worked extensively with high school students. I was first formally employed as a physics tutor with Florida State University from 2014 to 2015, where I was certified by the state of Florida. I taught one-on-one as well as small groups at the college library. During my Ph.D, I tutored local high school students as well as Notre Dame freshmen in AP Physics and Engineering Physics materials (also in one-on-one/small group format in person). Since 2020 I have also become familiar with working with students virtually.
Finally, I am a neurodiverse person with significant experience working with neurodiverse students." less...
