I earned my BS and MS in physics (from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Washington) and am completing my PhD in computational biophysics. I’ve taught Physics I at Catawba Valley Community College, served as Head TA for introductory physics at UW, and earned a departmental teaching award for supporting student learning.

My teaching style is interactive, visual, and focused on reasoning. I believe verbalizing your understanding and getting feedback is often more effective than passively listening. I encourage students to take the lead—to draw on Zoom whiteboards and think out loud, explain their understanding of the setup, follow through on their ideas, and use intuition to check whether their answers make sense.
