"Note: I check my Wyzant messages between 2 and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
I love physics, and I love teaching it. But I also know that physics can be a scary and frustrating subject, especially if you aren't getting the support that you need. (I've been there.) "Note: I check my Wyzant messages between 2 and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
I love physics, and I love teaching it. But I also know that physics can be a scary and frustrating subject, especially if you aren't getting the support that you need. (I've been there.) That frustration can be even worse if success in a physics course is important for you to reach your goals. And that's what matters to me: I want to make sure you are getting the support that you need, so that you can reach your full potential.
When we first meet, I will take the time needed to get to know you, to find out what your goals are, and to learn what challenges you are facing, both in and out of the classroom. You are a whole person, not just a student-robot, and I will always treat you as such. Once we have established your goals and challenges, we will customize your tutoring session to fit your needs. You will be actively involved throughout our sessions, and I will work to give you the tools you need to continue to be successful after our sessions end.
I have worked with students as a high school teacher, university instructor, and tutor. I have taught high school physics, AP Physics, and College Physics (both algebra-based and calculus-based). I have also developed content for major physics textbooks and Physics for Dummies books. My bachelor's degree from Hamilton College is in physics, and my master's degree from the University of Virginia is in physics education." less...
