* I have a strong background in phonics and use many varied strategies to find what will best work with a struggling learner. I find that my enthusiasm and encouragement is key to my students' success no matter their age.

* I have great success with teaching reading to Pre-K and Kindergarten children and know that once they

get a bit of success they just begin to soar.

* It is particularly rewarding for me to work with adult English language learners of all ages. I have an excellent rapport with adults who speak another language and want to improve their English skills. I prefer to work on a conversational method with some short grammar lessons to enhance their knowledge of English grammar in comparison to their native language grammar skills. I speak Spanish and have excellent knowledge of French, Italian and German which makes the grammar portion of English easier to understand in comparison to one's own native language.

* I tutor writing for the new Florida test using multiple passages and I explain the current scoring rubric in student friendly terms so that students know exactly what they will face on the Spring FSA writing test.

I am available to tutor after school and occasionally on weekends to accommodate your schedule. I am flexible about appointment changes when necessary but do expect my students to do their work by themselves as assigned with modest assistance if necessary, but not done for them.
