"Greetings from Jessica! I'm excited to share with you information regarding my teaching and learning experiences. I've been in the teaching and tutoring field for over 10 years. My favorite subjects include: elementary topics such as reading, writing, basic math skills, English grammar, phonics, Spanish conjugation and basic level Spanish, as well as elementary Spanish Immersion. I have a major in elementary education and a minor in Spanish.

I'm extremely excited to be a tutor on Wyzant's platform as my love for tutoring can be fulfilled. The opportunity to challenge an already gifted student or to be working with a struggling student is something in which I have lots of experience. I enjoy using higher-level thinking strategies with students that are above grade level. The potential for learning soars and these students see other avenues through which they are able to challenge themselves, in lessons with me! If a student struggles, my strength is my patience, calm tone and ability to repeat, re-define and investigate a method in which to allow the student to succeed. I'm willing to sing, make up new chants, act, role play, draw, etc. in order to see the lightbulb turn on, so to speak!

I absolutely love English grammar! I want to share my knowledge of it with everyone and think it's so much fun to explain why we use a certain pronoun instead of another. I even enjoy backing up and exploring what a pronoun is or how many different types exist! I learned a plethora about the "English" language whilst learning to speak Spanish! This addition of a new language to my world has forced me to understand parts of speech and grammar topics I hadn't prior understood in my own native language of English! Now, I understand these topics in two languages!

I have a calm demeanor, with a prompt response to answer questions as well as change the pace if I realize the lesson is not moving forward. I am very well-paced with students and observe or guide them in their own method, while adding some tricks, in order to teach" less...
