"Aloha! Throughout my career, I have been a chemist, a computer scientist, and a linguist, but my favorite role has always been teaching. I hold an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Princeton, a master's degree in linguistics from Oxford, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in linguistics at the University of Hawaiʻi with a focus on endangered language documentation and computational linguistics. I also studied medical engineering and medical physics at MIT. I have worked as a software engineer at NPR and Microsoft, a journalist in rural India, and a chemistry/computer science teacher at two of the most academically rigorous all-girls' schools in the country. I am deeply passionate about empowering students - particularly young women - to have confidence in their ability to excel in STEM.
