"Hi, I’m Haaris! I graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, and I'm currently pursuing a Master’s in Applied Mathematics at Columbia University. In high school, I scored a 1570 on the SAT (with a perfect math section), earned perfect scores on the SAT Math and Physics Subject Tests, and received 5s on AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Physics C, AP French, among others. I’ve since built on that foundation through rigorous university-level coursework and hands-on tutoring experience.
While at Princeton, I spent over two years working with college students in the Physics and Math departments, working both one-on-one and in group sessions with as many as 10-20 students. I tutored courses such as Linear Algebra, Classical Mechanics, and Real Analysis. These were some of the most conceptually demanding courses for underclassmen like me, and they required a new approach. Often, I found that the way these courses were taught, both at the high-school and college level, could be unintuitive, and I quickly learned the importance of finding mentors who could help me understand not only the “how” but the “why,” not just to pass a test, but to grow in my problem-solving abilities. This is what inspired me to start tutoring, and I aim to bring this same approach to my students. I’ve also worked outside the classroom with high school students, supporting them with standardized test prep (like the SAT and AP Calculus) and high school coursework.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to make complex topics feel intuitive. I don’t just guide students through problems, I help them build deeper understanding, intuition, and long-term confidence. Whether it’s reviewing homework, preparing for a standardized test, or strengthening fundamentals, I strive to create a supportive, collaborative environment. I’m easy to reach, flexible with scheduling, and happy to work in-person or virtually. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to set up a lesson!" less...
