"I'm an award-winning novelist and six-time judge of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards at both the regional and national level. I am currently offering a fall, 2025 Scholastic Awards Writing Workshop for all fiction categories from September 13 to November 22, on Saturdays from 10am-noon PST/1pm-3 EST. We meet for 18 hours, with additional independent writing time scheduled, to help students select strong ideas, prepare, write, edit, critique, and polish a complete entry for the December deadline! Every student will receive personal feedback from me in this Zoom-based program.

I typically offer creative writing private tutoring through my business, Lit Space Leaning. I am currently closed to new students but am taking future students on the waiting list.

With fiction: I teach compelling description, rich dialogue, character development, and advanced plotting.

Non-fiction: organizational techniques but with an eye toward originality. My students love to switch genres!

I believe that anyone, including children, can learn professional skills that lead to a fulfilled creative life. My teaching style is fun, entertaining, and encouraging but also direct and honest.

Availability: I live in Barcelona, Spain, six hours ahead of EST. During the school year, I tutor on the weekends. California students must be available in the mornings. For homeschooled students and adults, weekday times are possible. Unfortunately, I am currently full but taking waiting list students.
