Simply put, being an educator is my specialty. Working with individuals to reach their potential is what I do best. I hope to work with you so you can experience the satisfaction of the "ah ha!" moment. My teaching philosophy is that quality teaching is founded upon knowing and understanding the student.
I have a Masters in Mathematics from University of Washington Seattle and double Majors in Mathematics and Conservation Biology from University of Wisconsin Madison. I have tutored extensively the following subjects: Algebra, Pre-calculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. I have a plethora of study materials gathered and created from 20 years of tutoring math with students from a wide array of universities and community colleges.
As a musician, I am a registered Suzuki Teacher through the Suzuki Association of the Americas with accreditation in Harp, Violin, and Early Childhood Education. I studied harp pedagogy with Mary Kay Waddington, founder of the Suzuki Harp Method, at the Utah Suzuki Harp Institute and the American Suzuki Institute. I advocate that being a musician is just as much a physical pursuit as well as an intellectual pursuit. Therefore, my teaching emphasizes the efficient use of the body’s biomechanics to produce a high calibre tone while avoiding injury.
I have presented solo recitals at the Keweenaw Heritage Center at St. Anne’s, appeared as guest artist several times with the Michigan Tech Choirs, performed with the Pine Mountain Music Festival Orchestra on occasions, and performed with the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra from 2007 to 2019." less...
