"As a National Merit Scholarship Finalist, I earned my AA from the University of Florida on multiple academic scholarships, and I earned a multidisciplinary BA in writing and humanities from Western Washington University. After graduating from WWU, I managed hundreds of freelance writers for StoryTerrace, a tech startup. While returning to school for certifications in computer-aided design, I tutored computer applications and math at St. Petersburg College, and I have been tutoring writing and English language arts exclusively for the past year.
I am as experienced tutoring online as I am in-person. Most of my students are at the undergraduate or graduate level, but I am also comfortable with K-12 students. I am very familiar with APA, MLA, and AP styles. My philosophy is that writing is generally a three-part process: 1) research and idea development, 2) the writing itself, and 3) editing and formatting. Students often try to combine all three stages into just the second stage, which typically results in more work for a lower-quality result. My approach is to not only address specific issues, but to also come up with a plan for efficiently seeing an assignment through from start to finish, wherever a student may be in the process. Organization, time management, and related skills are crucial to academic success, and this is especially true for writing assignments.
Students have called my sessions "wonderful and insightful," "incredibly helpful," and "very informative." Dr. Charles Sylvester, Professor Emeritus at WWU, once recommended me as "among the finest writers" he ever encountered in his many years teaching writing courses. Whether you need help penning a haiku, drafting a scholarship essay, or researching a dissertation, I look forward to helping you take your writing to the next level." less...
