"I'm Nancy B., a 36 years old female with a true passion for languages. I come from Ecuador and my first language is Spanish. I have studied English, German, Portuguese and Quichua and therefore I know what you need during the process of learning a language. I have been tutoring Spanish for the last 6 years both in Quito, my born city, and New York. In 2005-2006 I tutored Spanish in Brazil as well, where I designed lessons based mostly on latin music. I have had great success with my students, ranging from children to middle school students, college-age and adults in general.

I did my undergraduate studies in Cultural Anthropology and have worked mostly as researcher. My areas of competence are urban cultures and music, immigration and memory and heritage. Some of my researches have resulted in a book and all of them in a report. That means that as an anthropologist I need to know Spanish not only as a first language but also as a resource to convey concepts. My background in anthropology has also allowed me to approach to Spanish from a cultural perspective, making my students more engage and knowledge of Spanish language. I did my graduate studies in documentary filmmaking, what makes me have a number of fun audiovisual tools that I use during my lessons or as homework.

My experience teaching Spanish has been mostly by tutoring. And in Brazil I taught intermediate and advanced Spanish at Instituto Latinoamericano de Lenguas ILAL.
