"Throughout my high school and undergraduate studies, I have been a tutor in math (Geometry, Pre-calc-Calculus) and science (chemistry, biology) and took coursework that was rigorous in statistics, math, and chemistry. As a graduate student, I worked as a tutor in the WiSE program (Women in Sciences and Engineering) at the University of Washington in Seattle and tutored undergraduate first year chemistry. I also tutored graduate students at the School of Public Health in their statistical courses and was also a teaching assistant for graduate-level categorical data analysis (logistic regression) and survival data analysis (Kaplan-Meier, cox regression) courses using STATA. I also provided freelance statistical consultation to researchers and have experience with manuscript writing.
I provide a practical approach to learning and understanding concepts and try to involve the student's current interest as well as place theory and concepts within the student's knowledgeable background. I also believe that each student is different and what may work with one student may not work for another. Therefore, I believe that constant feedback among students/parents and myself is essential to tailor our time together in the most efficient and effective way possible. Initially, it would be good to state learning goals and then have a plan to achieve them.
