"Hello potential cello student!

My name is Dessislava, which always proves to be way too long, so I am happy to go by Dr. D.

I have taught private cello lessons from beginners to music majors in college. I have also performed in numerous orchestras. Some of them include the Arkansas Symphony (AR), Lansing Symphony and Flint Symphony (MI), and Civic Orchestra of Chicago (where I met and chatted for a while with Yo-Yo Ma!). My chamber music recitals have taken me to Canada and Puerto Rico.

I enjoy having students who are interested in learning not only how to play the cello but also how to think, identify problems, and learn how to come up with practicing techniques. I also enjoy when my students have questions no matter what they are.

I was a teaching assistant at Michigan State University and was a cello professor at Albion College (MI). I currently teach at my home studio in Chicago and in District 204 in Naperville, IL.
