In addition, I've taught and mentored hundreds of students across the US and abroad. This includes working as a 10th grade English teacher, chess coach, curriculum developer, writing mentor, clinical social worker, social science researcher, summer camp director, and even professional storyteller and wilderness guide.

It's always a rewarding experience to guide high school students as they take a new look at their own stories and figure out how to, in a sense, pitch themselves to colleges. The following steps are potential ways we might work together

---Starting with a 2-3 hour phone call, I review their interests, goals, and academic and family background in order to outline the perfect personal statement - usually their central Common App Essay.

---I then assist students on early drafts as they figure out which parts to keep, ditch, or expand.

---We then polish each word so that the entire essay expresses a crisp story that clearly evokes their unique message to admissions.

---Lastly, we repeat this process again for any supplemental essays that their schools request.
