"Hello, my name is Ben M. I’m a professional songwriter, music producer, and drummer based in Los Angeles, CA.
My musical journey started in first grade through school music programs. I began on clarinet before moving to drums and percussion in 7th grade. In high school, I performed at Carnegie Hall with the Metropolis Youth Symphony Orchestra and was part of the 2007 Illinois State Marching Band Championship at the University of Illinois.
I went on to join the Jazz Studies program at Roosevelt University in Chicago, led by Grammy-winning jazz drummer Paul Wertico (Pat Metheny). After that, I moved to Los Angeles to study drum performance at the Los Angeles College of Music, training under legendary drummers including Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey, Gary Ferguson, Dave Beyer, Matt Starr, Tony Inzalaco, and others.
Following my time in LA, I spent a year in Xiamen, China, performing six nights a week as a drummer—an invaluable experience that sharpened my skills as a touring and session musician. When I returned to Los Angeles, I began working with Grace VanderWaal (America’s Got Talent). Soon after, I toured and performed with LéON, the acclaimed Swedish singer/songwriter. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with artists such as Rachel Platten, Noah Cyrus, Natasha Bedingfield, Rob Schneider, and more.
In addition to drumming, I am an active songwriter and music producer with over 10 years of writing experience. My work has been featured in TV and film, including placements on Love is Blind, The Jersey Shore, Love Island, Zoe, and others. I also write and produce for emerging artists whose songs have earned hundreds of thousands of streams across Spotify and Apple Music." less...
