"I am a professional editor and published author based in Skokie, IL. I have been a journalist for 15 years and currently work as an assistant managing editor for the ABA Journal, one of the largest and most prestigious legal publications in the country. I manage a team of reporters and serve as a mentor to and provide guidance for them, helping them conceptualize their ideas and produce a finished product of publishable quality. I often have to advise on and explain topics relating to legal technology and business of law to my reporters, and guide them in their reporting and writing. Additionally, as one of the only lawyers on staff at the Journal, I often have to explain legal terms to my colleagues, especially when it comes to litigation and lawsuits.
I earned a degree in history from Amherst College and won departmental honors on my senior thesis. I then attended law school at Tulane University School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctorate. While in law school, I served as an editor on the Tulane Journal of International and Comparative Law. After several years working as a lawyer, I then enrolled at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, graduating with a master's degree with a concentration in magazine writing.
I have also written two books. My first book, "Nixon in New York: How Wall Street Helped Richard Nixon Win the White House" was published in 2018. My second book, "Supreme Pressure: The Rejection of John J. Parker and the Birth of the Modern Supreme Court Confirmation Process" is scheduled to be published in January 2026.
My teaching experience has been limited to on-the-job training of reporters and helping my son with his homework and violin practice. However, I have worked as a tutor in high school and college, working with younger students and helping them with a range of subjects, including math, history, writing and reading." less...
