"I received my BM in Jazz saxophone from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 2022, and have since been working as a professional musician and composer in New York City. In that time I have worked as both a live performer and session musician, as well as a composer of original music for films.

I have previously taught students at varying levels and ages, from beginners as young as 8 years old to intermediate or more advanced students as old as 20. I began teaching while I was in college, around sometime in 2019, and continued to pursue teaching after graduating. All of these lessons were private and on a 1-on-1 basis, though I am not opposed to teaching group lessons in the future.

As a teacher, I believe in gathering a sense of what interests the student most about their instrument and music generally. What artists do you listen to? What made you want to play this particular instrument? What music do you connect to? In thinking of these questions, I believe you can begin the learning process from a place of enthusiasm and ambition. I believe there is no greater motivator to practice and develop as a musician than to be excited about music itself and the possibilities of what you can accomplish. Keeping these in mind makes the technical work of developing your craft on your specific instrument (i.e. exercises, scales, long tones) all the more directed, enjoyable, and meaningful. I aim to challenge students to step out of their comfort zones so that they can achieve things they didn't think were possible, and in the process, help them to find their singular voice as an artist and musician." less...
