"Hello, and thank you for taking the time to get to know me! My name is Purav, and I’ve always believed that a deep appreciation for mathematics and science starts with a solid academic foundation—and a genuine curiosity. I graduated high school with a 4.0 unweighted GPA, not only earning the distinction of AP Scholar with Distinction, but also completing over 16 AP courses, including Calculus AB & BC, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics 1, and Computer Science A. I scored a perfect 800 on the SAT Math and was honored as a National Merit Scholar recognitions that reflect both my academic dedication and my passion for learning. Currently, I’m building on that foundation as an undergraduate at Yale University, all while continuing to share what I’ve learned through tutoring.
My tutoring journey spans more than six years, during which I’ve served students across all grade levels, from elementary to high school. I’ve led and organized 50+ lessons for local math nonprofits designing competition-prep sessions, k-12 workshops, and individualized support tailored to each student’s needs. I also spent 1 year at Mathnasium, where I honed my ability to adapt teaching methods for different ages, breaking down complex ideas into clear, intuitive explanations. As a competitive mathlete, I’ve won over 20 math competitions at the local, state, and national levels—and worked extensively with AMC, AIME, Math League, and Mu Alpha Theta problems. These accomplishments enhanced not just my problem-solving skills, but also my understanding of how to teach complex content in ways that inspire confidence. I truly believe that math can be taught to anyone, as long as we ask the right questions and guide students with patience, encouragement, and clarity." less...
