"Hello! My name is Zachary. I am experienced mathematician and educator. I attended Northern Arizona University for my bachelor's degree in mathematics in 2015. While I was an undergraduate, I worked for the math department in a large tutoring center, called the Lumberjack Mathematics Center, specializing in algebra and pre-calculus. I stayed for a master's in mathematics at NAU where I taught the same courses I tutored. I had the opportunity to redesign the university's college algebra course and teach classes for a scholarship summer bridge program. Upon finishing in 2017, I moved to Burlington, Vermont to attend another master's program in mathematics at the University of Vermont where I continued to teach undergraduate algebra courses. When I finished my time in Vermont, I moved back to Flagstaff and NAU to teach as an instructor where I was able to teach all 3 levels of the calculus sequence along with business mathematics courses. When COVID-19 hit, the department furloughed all of its newest hires. This was a blessing in disguise because it afforded me the opportunity to teach at the high school level. Not only did I continue teaching college-level calculus classes geared toward AP, I was able to design courses in the History of Mathematics and Number Theory as senior capstone projects. I am currently a Ph.D. student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where I have been able to tutor 100 and 200 level courses, teach my own algebra and business math courses, and even substitute for upper division mathematics courses. My current mathematical research comes down to very attainable ideas that are omnipresent in high school and undergraduate math courses, driving my passion toward these subjects." less...
