"I’m a passionate science educator with 20+ years of experience helping students build confidence, curiosity, and strong academic skills. I hold a BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UC Santa Cruz and an MS in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University, and I specialize in making complex scientific ideas clear, engaging, and accessible.

My work includes years of marine ecology field experience and the development of several outdoor and experiential education programs. I managed the education program at UC Santa Cruz’s Long Marine Laboratory, where I created a 100-hour accredited training course that guided college students in interpreting scientific research and developing strong communication skills.

My teaching background spans biology, ecology, marine biology, botany, zoology, public speaking, and science writing. I’ve taught and mentored learners of all ages and abilities, including extensive experience supporting developmentally disabled adults, and I love meeting students where they are to help them grow.
