I focus much more on concept comprehension rather than fact memorization. Computer science by nature has a lot of abstract concepts that are difficult to grasp. I have found that the most surefire way for a student to understand the material is by making analogies that relate it to tangible, real world examples. The way that I approach a tutoring session is by first determining the students goals and their comprehension of the subject matter. Once I have an understanding of the student's particular needs, I then tailor a lesson plan accordingly.
