"Hi, I am a tutor with a decade of experience. My students have gone on to Yale and Brown. I have a reading program running year-round! I specialize primarily in reading comprehension, essay writing, and test preparation. I studied both English and Psychology, including: childhood development, and developmental disabilities. I am further trained in: executive functioning; memory recall using the keyword approach; and organizational skills, making me a good fit for students with ADHD and special needs. I have been a TOEFL teacher for 3 years.
I work with all ages, from elementary students to adults. I assist with homework, essays, coursework comprehension, projects, and research papers. I proofread and mentor for college application essays, and supplemental questions. I work with students to apply for scholarships, workshops, internships, and honor societies. I also am skilled in test preparation, especially for the SAT, ACT, AP Language & Arts, AP Literature, AP World History, APUSH (U.S. History), AP Psychology, and other exams.
I pride myself on my patience and kindness. My style involves both keeping students engaged, and ensuring their skills are developing in a timely manner. Using easy-to-understand explanations, I can describe high-brow reading passages with ease, or deconstruct essay questions. Students that I work with find themselves not only understanding important information, but enjoying the process of learning it. I ensure that they are able to explain the content back to me, preparing them both for tests and for practical application.
Please reach out if you would like to schedule your first hour-long lesson." less...
