"I’m Elijah! I graduated from SUNY Buffalo State University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Currently, I am also pursuing my Graduate degree in the same field.

I have tutored at my University’s Writing Center for 5+ years, where I assisted students from all walks of life. From the college freshman, the experienced graduate student, ESL/ELL learners, to even returning students who sought to finally get that degree. My tutoring process has always been one that involves making sure I best respond to the students’ needs and give advice that will improve their writing skills for the future.

Integral to my tutoring process is to always emphasize to students that writing itself is a process. Hence I will break down that process for the student: by covering how to research, outline, draft, and naturally, review said draft, any student I work with will come away with a thorough understanding of how to approach the writing process and apply it to anything they write in the future.

I also have experience teaching both SAT/ACT English to students. During these sessions, I would guide students through how to read effectively by knowing where to find key points of information efficiently. Furthermore, by supplementing this with strong test taking strategies, students I worked with came to the SAT/ACT with a strong confidence in tackling the wall head on.

I have found tutoring as a profession to be profoundly satisfying. Seeing students I work with succeed has always been the greatest motivator towards me continuing my work in this field. I hope I can contribute to your success as well." less...
