"I am a professor at Columbia in mathematics and computer science. I was an undergraduate at Harvard and got a PhD at the University of Chicago. Before coming to Columbia, I taught at Stanford and the University of Texas. While I was in high school, I participated in the USACO and USNCO, was a National Latin scholar, and an avid science fair participant. I loved being a TA as an undergraduate and teaching as a graduate student, and while at the University of Texas, I was nominated for the Academy of Distinguished Teachers.

I have worked for nearly 25 years as a tutor, handling test preparation (SAT, GRE, LSAT), subject help in math and CS, and college admissions counseling. I have been involved in undergraduate and graduate admissions at the University of Texas and at Columbia, and have an inside view of the how the process works. My students have substantially improved their test scores and grades, gained confidence, and been admitted to top universities around the country. I love teaching and seeing students gain mastery over the material.

For test prep, my teaching methods involve a focus on extensive practice so that the test(s) in question are not scary coupled with targeted focus on subject areas that the student needs to improve as well as general "gamesmanship" of how to succeed on standardized tests.
