"Hey, I'm Kevin!
I graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Computer Science in 2019, and I graduated with a M.S. from NCSU in Machine Learning/AI. I’ve spent the past 5 years primarily working in healthcare tech.
I found my passion for teaching in high school. I was taking college-level courses early on, and my professors for those classes made a big impression on me, not just because they were knowledgeable, but because they were enthusiastic and dedicated to helping us grow. Their example showed me what great teaching looks like, and I try to express that same energy and commitment as a tutor.
I've been working with high school students for a year now, helping them study for the SAT, ACT, AP exams, or even just coursework. I’ve also coached students in mathematics competitions. As a former competitor myself, I participated in all the major STEM-related contests in my state. I did Mathcounts and AMC throughout middle school. I’ve qualified for AIME three times in a row, once for USAMO, and placed top 25 at ARML in North Carolina. I was also part of my school's Sci Oly team that won the state championship twice, and I went to Nationals both times with fairly successful results.
My teaching style emphasizes problem-solving and active learning. I like to let students work through problems themselves before stepping in to help. I’ve found that this approach helps build deeper understanding and long-term confidence. That said, I also know when to take a more direct approach, and am always ready to adapt to a student’s needs.
While I mainly teach math and CS, I’m flexible and comfortable helping with other STEM-related subjects like physics and engineering. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students strengthen their academic skills, but also to spark a deeper interest in learning—even in subjects they may not naturally gravitate toward." less...
