"It's hard to overstate how important the PSAT, SAT, and GRE are for getting into your dream college and graduate school. Using the conversion table at https://www.greenes.com/html/convert.htm, I scored a 1550 on the SAT and an unconverted 760 on the GRE. In 11th grade, you’ll take the PSAT, and those who score in the top 99.5% nationwide become a National Merit Semifinalists, opening doors everywhere. Don’t be intimidated — it’s much easier to score higher than you think, since a huge majority of people don’t study at all. You’ll do way better than them!

If you are a serious minded, dedicated student, I know all the tricks to help you significantly improve your score. You’ll only need an hour or two a week with me — those expensive 20 hour a week Kaplan study courses just aren’t necessary. You’ll find I’m a patient and friendly instructor who can quickly explain anything you don’t understand on practice exams. I know the pressure you’re under, and I want you to do well, and I KNOW you will!

If you’ve taken advanced math in high school, you can get virtually all the questions right with unlimited time (no questions require calculus knowledge). Because the math questions are all essentially the same year after year, it’s just a matter of practicing the forms of the questions to answer quickly, partially by eliminating obviously wrong answers.

The reading section you’ll do better at if you, well, read. I strongly recommend spending 30 minutes daily with the New York Times (I can get you a free subscription). It’s guaranteed to improve your SAT vocabulary and reading comprehension, and it’s fun to see how people live in America’s biggest, most sophisticated city. If there is an unfamiliar word or two on the exam, you’ll still be able to make educated guesses.
