"Hello! My name is Nicolette, and I hold a BA in Psychology and Cognitive Science from Rutgers University and an MS in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utah. Currently, I am an advanced PhD student at the University of Oregon, where I conduct research and mental health therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. My scholarship has been acknowledged through grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and awards from both national and local psychological associations.

I’ve developed expertise in mentoring aspiring graduate students across various disciplines and have also tutored children ages 6-18. My experience tutoring has been in a range of subjects, particularly English, writing, psychology, and statistics. I take pride in tutoring academic writing as it can be an important skill for aspiring students to hone. In tutoring, my objective is to empower students to refine their writing skills, particularly for school assignments, personal statements, and application essays. I believe in making these writings engaging and deeply reflective of each student's unique story, thereby maximizing their chances of success in admissions, securing awards, obtaining scholarships, etc.

As an instructor for undergraduate courses like research methods and writing, I have always prioritized creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. My teaching philosophy is rooted in understanding and addressing the diverse needs of my students, and I am particularly sensitive to the challenges faced by first-generation college students, being one myself.
