"Hi! I am a PhD Candidate at UW, based in Los Angeles, with a background in AI and data science. I currently tutor bright, ambitious high-school and college students in math, coding, and AI. I work with students both online and in person in the West LA area.
I am currently a Teaching Assistant and PhD candidate at the University of Washington, where I teach undergraduate seminars for political science classes and do research investigating how AI can be governed in line with democratic principles. For the foreseeable future, I am doing my research remotely from LA. Previously, I worked as a data analyst at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies in Washington DC, where I used modern data science techniques, including the large language models (LLMs) that power AI, to investigate illegal networks in global security. I earned my Master's in Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, where I also completed my undergraduate studies. In my free time, I enjoy great storytelling in any form — from the Mahabharata to The Dark Knight Rises — and love exploring my hometown of Los Angeles.
Firstly, I'm skilled at helping students with data science and AI projects due to my background in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences. I'm also especially interested in helping students learn how to write effectively in the age of ChatGPT. I believe that learning to write well is the same as learning to think well. Finally, having personally navigated the world of competitive college admissions, including the SAT, I'm deeply familiar with both the academic and emotional challenges of the journey — and I'm confident I can help guide students through it. I love teaching, and I love helping students develop a lifelong appreciation for learning. I look forward to working with yours!" less...
