"Hi, I'm Ben!
I graduated magna cum laude in 2009 from New York University (Economics + English Lit double major), for which I received the Founder's Day Award. In 2013, I earned a full stack developer certificate from General Assembly. In subsequent years, I have earned multiple certificates in computer science and mathematics from MIT. I am currently pursuing my DELE C2 certification for native Spanish language fluency. Education never stops.
I specialize in training students for the digital SAT and ACT. On these exams, MY students typically score in the top 2-3%. On the SAT, this equates to 1490+ and 33-36 on the ACT. I have over fifteen years experience and 20,000 hours teaching one-to-one. To date, 100+ students have gotten acceptances to Yale, UPenn, MIT, Stanford, Dartmouth, Cornell, Vanderbilt, Wash U in St. Louis, Tulane, Northeastern, Kenyon, Boston University, Edinburgh and more. The list goes on.
The skills required for these tests develop long before students' junior year (when most take the exam). I recommend starting the process early, ideally freshman year. It takes approximately 100-200 hours to fully prepare. Broken up across a two year span, this means my students and I meet 2-4 hours weekly. I limit the number of students/families I work with to ten per year. I'll add that my approach centers itself around time management, specifically making sure my students know exactly how long each question should take them. I am founder of SAT perfect, where I share my approach with the world.
The SAT is broken into two sections: math and verbal. My goal on the math section is to guarantee that students score 750+, the top the 2% of all test takers. Roughly 85% of the prep I do is focused on the math as I find verbal scores are strongly correlated to math performance. Once kids score 750+ on math, they almost always score 700+ on verbal. It doesn't work the other way around.
