"I hold a Master's degree in Education and am a certified teacher with over 15 years of experience in both classroom and one-on-one instructional settings. My teaching journey began in the Chicago Public Schools, where I spent over five years teaching Kindergarten through 3rd grade. I later expanded my expertise by teaching 4th grade and serving as a Reading Specialist, supporting students in grades K through 8 with foundational literacy skills. I currently work as a Literacy Specialist in a K-2 building, where I coach teachers, model lessons, and provide targeted reading instruction to students needing intervention.
Throughout my career, I’ve developed a strong passion for helping students build confidence in reading and math. I have also worked with middle and high school students using the Read 180 program, supporting 7th–10th graders in decoding, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. My approach to tutoring is patient, encouraging, and personalized. I assess students’ strengths and challenges and tailor lessons that fit their learning style. I believe in making learning engaging and attainable, and I strive to create a safe space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and celebrating growth.
My background includes small-group instruction, one-on-one tutoring, and individualized intervention in both in-person and virtual formats. I have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying learning needs, including those performing below grade level. My goal as a tutor is to help each student unlock their full potential and gain the skills they need to succeed academically and beyond." less...
