"I am a certified teacher for general education and special education. I am also reading endorsed through the state of Florida. I have been trained with Orton-Gillingham and am currently using the Barton Reading and Spelling System.

I believe in the Orton-Gillingham method when teaching reading and spelling. I believe a multi-sensory approach helps students, especially those with dyslexia, learn and retain information. Students need a solid foundation in basic reading skills, like phonemic awareness, to build upon and become better readers. During my tutoring sessions, I will be using the Barton System, which is an Orton-Gillingham influenced system, that provides an explicit and systematic approach to teaching phonics.

I have been teaching for 14 years. I have taught in many different settings, including self-contained, resource, and general education. I have taught students from grades K-8 throughout my career.
