"Hello! My name is Grant, and I provide one-on-one tutoring in reading and writing for learners in K-5th, middle school, and high school. I have a lifelong passion for all things literary, and I love to help my students read, write, and express their ideas with more confidence and creativity.

Since earning my B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley in 2024, I have served for over a year as a literacy interventionist for an educational non-profit in the Bay Area. In my day to day, I work directly with K-5th students who are below grade level in reading, helping them to build core literacy skills through fun, student-centered lessons and instructional games. I tutor students at all stages of the literacy journey, from emerging readers developing alphabetic awareness to advancing readers learning to comprehend long-form texts. I enjoy my work immensely, and I love to see my students reach new heights in their reading.

I also love to work with older students hoping to strengthen their academic writing and refine their critical thinking skills. My time in the English Honors Program at Berkeley (where I wrote a 60 page senior thesis) equipped me with a strong understanding of academic writing in the humanities. For high school or college students, I can help at every level of the writing process, from close reading texts and brainstorming ideas, to formulating thesis statements, structuring arguments, and polishing rough drafts.

My tutoring style is friendly, empathetic, and student-centered. As a reading and writing coach, my primary goal is always to help my students find their own voice and perspective. I hope my students come away not only with stronger literacy and composition skills, but also with a belief in their own creativity and the power of their own thinking.
