"I have been in adult education at the university level for the past 12 years. I taught introductory courses in critical thinking and problem solving, developmental English, speech, and research. I understand the particular need for adults to apply learning to their own life goals in practical ways. I recognize that every person has one or more learning styles and I modify my teaching approach to match their most effective style.

I am venturing into English as a Second Language (ESL) because I have lived and worked in two languages other than English (Spanish and French) , and I appreciate the challenges that adults face in making the transition in thought and expression to achieve a functional mastery of English. I hold a doctoral degree, so I am a disciplined and serious student myself. I want students to develop the time management and study skills necessary to reach their career potential and harness their learning experiences in the past to take full advantage of their proficiency in English.

I have taught English at the university level for 12 years, and I have been the manager of a university-level tutoring center for most of that same period. I acknowledge that every person requires a special approach to be able to learn and retain language principles.
