"For the last 4 years I’ve been pursuing a degree in kinesiology and have recently followed through in that pursuit. Over this time I’ve taken classes like physiology, anatomy, chemistry, physics, biology, statistics, and calculus, and enjoyed every minute learning about them under amazing professors. James Madison University’s anatomy course was the highlight and upon completion I wanted to stick around in the classroom and so I did as a lab assistant for 3 semesters, working under the guidance of a professor to help college age students with the material as well as performing some of the clerical activities like grading and being there for office hours. Less formal, in classes like physiology, biology, and chemistry, friends and other classmates created study groups and I worked as the lead, making sure they stayed on track with the material as the weeks and semesters went by. I’ve also gained a lot of experience as a student in the realms of physical therapy and athletic training to the point of being trusted to work with student athletes and patients, understand their situations, teach them movements and technique, as well as clarifying their conditions, progress, or lack thereof.

I’ve always been interested in learning but most of that spark came back in highschool when I was able to take classes like algebra, trigonometry, calculus, physics, but especially biology, chemistry, and anatomy. The teachers were so enthusiastic and I feel as though some of that rubbed off on me and ultimately influenced my choice to pursue kinesiology. While not a master in the subjects I’ve previously mentioned, I’m someone who has dabbled in a multitude of subjects and thus, coupled with a outgoing personality, can inspire learning across a plethora of realms." less...
