"I recently finished my PhD in Religious Studies at UVA and I have been a college-level instructor since 2015. I have also substituted at the middle school and high school levels for Albemarle County Public Schools. I originally graduated with a Bachelor's of Science (Forestry) from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point (minoring in French and Religious Studies), so I have a wide breadth of knowledge that I can put to use in assisting students!

In my college-level experience I have found that one of the most rewarding things is witnessing the "lightbulb moments" that students experience in the course of developing their writing skills, reading and comprehension, and in learning course material, and my goal in tutoring is for students to have these same moments as they grow and develop their base of knowledge. Part of this involves explaining the "whys" to students and illuminating the underlying logic and mechanics that inform a given topic, subject, or discussion, and I have years of classroom experience in doing exactly this!

I am open to tutoring online or in-person, and I am open to working with individual students or small groups.
