"I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in 2019 from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and hold an associate professional counselor license in Georgia and licensure pending in Florida. I earned a bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University in 2007. I primarily work in a clinical setting but also find meaning in helping others succeed through support and transfer of knowledge outside of the therapy room. Prior to counseling I worked in the technology sector of the food industry. These differing backgrounds offer my students and clients a unique perspective on problem solving and personal growth.
I have not worked as a professional tutor in a paid setting, but have previously helped 4th graders with math and science by way of assisting my mother, who was a 4th grade teacher. In my practice as a counselor, psychoeducation is a critical component of a client deeply understanding their diagnosis, and in many ways parallels to tutoring a person to master a subject. In particular, individuals with ADHD benefit from ample education about the disorder, and I am passionate about helping them feel a sense of cognitive control over it. I have also provided informal, as-need math (algebra 1, geometry) tutoring to high schoolers within the context of their therapy as a means of building study skills and confidence, which paid off when my client dramatically improved both his math grade and attitude about math.
Specifics about demographics: in a clinical counseling setting I have worked with individuals 12-60 years old. For tutoring, I would like to work with individuals in middle and high school and up on psychology, math, and science, as well as undergraduate level psychology." less...
