"I recently retired from the federal government. My sister is a long-time teacher and part-time tutor, and I would like the opportunity to pass on some of the knowledge I have accumulated in my lifetime. I began reading at age three, and never stopped. In grade school, my parents twice were offered the chance to allow me to skip a grade.

I had a superb education from grade school through college. I was in advanced classes from fourth through ninth grades, and took many honors classes in high school. I have a BA in Journalism and Political Science from Syracuse University. Although I excel in several areas, my strongest fields are French; English (especially vocabulary, spelling, grammar and usage); and mathematics (specifically anything arithmetical, and basic geometry and algebra). I have taken advanced algebra and calculus, but don't feel comfortable teaching those areas. I have a huge store of knowledge, both practical and trivial. I have been on three television game shows,

including "Jeopardy"! I occasionally participate in local adult spelling bees, where I have performed fairly well. My outside interests include sports, financial markets and investing, coin collecting, popular music, theater and movies. I am well versed in all of those areas." less...
