"Hello! I'm a professor at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design with experience teaching middle, high school, and post-secondary education in subjects including English, social sciences/studies, and history. I have a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, an M.A. from UChicago, and thousands of hours of in-classroom practice teaching subjects including reading, writing, literature, history, philosophy, public speaking, and more. I also have experience tutoring for standardized tests, specifically the LSAT, GRE, and ACT.
I have logged thousands of in-classroom and on-Zoom hours educating students from both the United States and foreign nations. From 2013-2014, I was an English-language auxiliary at a Spanish middle and high school. Between 2018 and 2022, while completing my Ph.D., I taught classes at local universities in Los Angeles, including Loyola Marymount University, Cal State Northridge, and the University of Southern California. Throughout this time, I also mentored students applying to graduate school programs including law school and Ph.D. programs. I also have experience tutoring students on the LSAT, GRE, and ACT - all of which are exams that I took an placed in the top 98%+.
My tutoring methods are dependent on the subject. For exam prep, I work with students on problem-solving and time-management skills to maximize their scores. For content-based courses like history, philosophy, and media studies, I work with students on memorization strategies, mnemonics, and other tools to help make sure they pass their classes with the best grades possible. I also have experience improving writing and reading skills for diverse learners. While I am not certified to teach ESL, I have worked with ESL students to gain admittance to American universities. One of my specialties is coaching students on how to write admissions essays and prepare admissions materials for applications to elite universities. Above all else, my approach to tutoring is tailored to each student's individual goals." less...
