"I am a retired Assoc. Prof with close to 50 years experience in teaching English in Universities in Malaysia and in China. I hold a Masters in Education for TESL. I have prepared students for TOEFL exams in Malaysia in preparation for study in the United States. Despite retiring I have continued teaching, editing and preparing materials for teaching English online. I also help in proofreading theses of graduate students. Besides that I am an experienced corporate trainer for spoken and written communication and business writing skills.

I love tutoring as the student gets one to one attention and I can always see the progress and development of the student. Of course I get to meet great people as well. I have tutored for many years and it's a great reward to see students moving forward. in fact I currently volunteer with Literacy for Life at Williamsburg as an English tutor.

The many years in my career have made me very skilled and disciplined. I am able to assess a student's needs very quickly and design materials or pitch lessons to suit those needs. Some needs may be short term and I am always honest with that. I am not in the habit of postponing classes at will, so a student can always be sure the class will be on. Having worked with foreign students, I am familiar with their fears and I can understand and negotiate these fears with them.
