"Hello, my name is Beth. I am a retired teacher and school administrator. I have a B.S. in Mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University, with minors in Sociology and Secondary Education. I also have a Masters in Education from Cumberland University. I obtained my school administration endorsement from David Lipscomb University, as well as 24 hours towards my Ed.S from Arkansas State University.

Over the last 34 years I have worked for Metro Nashville Public Schools. I taught high school Mathematics for 16 years for the district before moving to other rolls in the school system. I taught Algebra I&II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry and Calculus, when I served in the classroom.

After leaving the classroom I became a Math Mentor Specialist, grades K—12. From that role I became a Mathematics Coordinator for the District. I then moved to school level administrative roles at both the Elementary and Middle School levels. From those positions I moved back to the district level and held positions of District Data Coach for school level administrators and teachers, School Improvement Facilitator and Coordinator of Neglected Delinquent Facilities in Davidson County. After retiring I continue to work part time s the Coordinator of Neglected and Delinquent Facilities.

Over the years, I have tutored math for both college and high school students. In the past few years as the Coordinator of Neglected and Delinquent, I have volunteered my time to tutor students at local juvenile detention facilities.

I have a true passion for helping others. I love to inspire students, and people in general, to realize that they can understand and do well in math when they feel they cannot. Everyone has math abilities they do not even know they have. It just takes some encouragement and help to realize understandings that lie within them. I take students from where they are academically and help guide them mastery. I care as much about a student’s confidence in their ability as in their mastery of subject matter." less...
