"I am a retired, certified teacher with a strong background in English Language Arts and many years of experience helping students build confidence in reading and writing. I earned my bachelor’s degree and completed formal teacher preparation and certification, which included extensive training in literacy instruction, assessment, and student-centered teaching. Throughout my career, I have worked with students of varying abilities and learning styles, and I am skilled at explaining concepts in clear, supportive ways that make learning feel manageable rather than stressful.

Most of my teaching experience has been with middle and high school students, primarily between the ages of 12 and 17. I have supported students with reading comprehension, fluency, grammar, writing organization, and study skills, both in classroom settings and through one-on-one or small-group instruction. In addition to working with older students, I also tutor younger learners and students performing below grade level, adapting lessons to meet them where they are and helping them build foundational skills with patience and care.

As a tutor, my approach is calm, structured, and encouraging. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, understood, and confident enough to ask questions. I break skills into clear steps, provide guided practice, and adjust my teaching style to fit each student’s needs. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them develop confidence and strategies they can use independently.
