I grew up in Leningrad, Russia, during the final years of the Soviet Union, and later earned an MBA in the United States. This background gives me a unique perspective as both a native Russian and English speaker and as someone who lived through the last decades of Soviet life.

I tutor in:

English and Russian conversation practice (for fluency, not grammar drills)

Soviet and post-Soviet history, with personal insight into everyday life and culture

European History

My lessons are conversational - furthermore, they will dip into the realm of the cultural no less than the purely factual .

Teaching Approach

For language practice: relaxed conversation with corrections and guidance to build fluency and confidence. No grammar drills.

For history tutoring: clear outlines, essay-writing help, critical analysis, and where appropriate, personal stories from Soviet life to give context.
