"After earning my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Microbiology and Biochemistry, I began working in biotech and quickly realized that my passion was learning. This began my teaching career. Now, 20+ years later, I am still that passionate learner. I now have the privilege of passing on my love of science to so many students! I have taught all levels of biology and chemistry from general to AP Biology and AP Chemistry; as well as Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology! My deep foundation and knowledge in these subjects allow me to pull content from all, helping students relate and make connections for better understand.
I believe that every student is on their own path. I want to help them find their way and find the skills that work best for them. My comfort in the subject allows me to focus on how best to support the student and meet them where they are. Whether the student is an auditory, visual or verbal learner, I have the skills to bring the content to the student in a way that they learn best. I love using images, sketches and graphics to bring lessons to life while also making real world connections that help the student understand and “see” the science.
I love to explain thing in different ways, use analogies, and connect the topics with things that the student is already passionate about. It is my job to look for disconnects and bring them back onto their path. I can predict upcoming common difficult areas and prepare students with the skills to approach them. I will also give recommendations and suggest study skills to support the student after our session.
My favorite moment is always the “aha” when a student gets it and has the confidence to move forward! I hope to bring your student to that “aha” moment and be a partner in his/her achievement of goals. No matter how big or small the goal may be, I’m here to help!" less...
