"I have been tutoring periodically since 2000, with a focus on breaking down complex subjects into smaller, more manageable concepts that are easier to understand. I find great satisfaction in those moments when a student truly grasps the material. For ten years, I taught high school biology and often took my students on field trips to Clemson University to participate in the Biology Merit Exam. After that, I was a long term sub for first graders and tutored fifth graders too. I am pretty versatile to teach any age group.
I have a Pre-Veterinary degree from Clemson and a Masters degree from Southern Wesleyan University. I taught subjects such as Biology, Physical Science, and Chemistry. I also taught SAT math when I was teaching school as well. I like to use real-world examples when I break down the subject matter. I am patient, kind, and understanding. You should work with me to help guide you through your studies. I have lots of experience and understand kids pretty well. My student helpers at the High School would reserve me 1.5 years in advance just to help them their senior year...when they were just sophomores. I was given five Crystal Apple awards and nominated Who's Who of American High School Teachers six times. I was a pretty popular teacher with the students. Very tough, but fair. I also, the first year I was a track coach, coached my girls to win three gold medals in the regionals. I'm pretty much a motivator and would love to work with you to motivate you to love science, math, and reading." less...
