"Hi, I'm Sydney! I am a current sophomore biology major at Texas A&M with a passion for biology and chemistry! I hope to help other students enjoy these challenging, but fascinating subjects as well!
I believe science is best understood when concepts are treated like a story of cause and effect relationships, rather than a pile of facts to memorize. Whether a student needs help with biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, or even elementary science, I focus on helping students understand why processes happen the way they do at the atomic, molecular, and cellular levels.
After an initial, free diagnostic session, I try to apply that philosophy to any concepts that a student is struggling with, breaking down each idea slowly for full understanding rather than rote memorization. Once a student feels confident in their conceptual understanding of the material, we will begin to work on practice problems that require them to apply knowledge rather than just recall information. My goal is to help students achieve a deep understanding of the material that students can carry with them through subsequent exams and courses.
As an honors student with a 4.0 GPA, I understand the expectations and pace that challenging science courses can move at, and I have developed effective study strategies for mastering the volume of material that they will throw at students. I enjoy helping others apply these same strategies to build confidence and succeed academically.
I am driven to help students succeed and to make them feel supported throughout the tutoring process, so I welcome any suggestions, requests, and/or resources from students and parents! Please contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!" less...
